Explaining Hereditary angioedema and its symptoms
The Hereditary angioedema or HAE is a kind of inherited disease. It causes repeated swelling in the body and the swelling of HAE occurs beneath the skin surface. This swelling can occur on the hands, arms, feet, legs or even on face and it can also be associated with the inflammation. However, the swelling becomes extremely harmful when it occurs in the airways like voice box, windpipe or intestinal tract etc. The patients of Hereditary angioedema does not always require treatments because some get rid of this disease automatically but some requires life-saving treatment as well.
There are three main types of HAE and its symptoms or causes can differ according to the type of HAE. The different types of HAE will show different and unique symptoms so these types can be diagnosed by the study of symptoms. Although the symptoms differ but still some symptoms stays same and that is what helps to identify that a person is suffering from Hereditary angioedema. The most common symptoms of HAE are:
- Intestinal swelling: Abdominal pain, dehydration, diarrhea, abdominal cramping and sometimes shocks
- Throat inflammation: Difficulties in breathing and swallowing or hoarse voice
- Other Swelling: Swelling in the Arm, eyes, legs, throat and tongue
The HAE can be diagnosed with the help of some blood tests. And if any symptom or sign of HAE revealed then you can consider the best treatment option for you from Epinephrine, C1-inhibitors, plasma and Attenuated androgens etc. These treatments are highly effective for those patients who require treatments of HAE.
