Depending on food habits and personal lifestyle choices, there are different categories drawn to group individuals. Read on to know one set of those categories. The commonly used categories are Vegetarians and Non-vegetarians. Vegetarians are the people who do not consume animal products. So who is a Vegan?
A Vegan is an individual who does not consume animal products, dairy products, eggs. Individuals following a Vegan lifestyle do not wear animal leather, or any products made from the skin of animals or products tested on animals. This is related to a concept called ‘Altruism’. Altruism refers to selfless concern for the wellbeing of others. In this case, it is concern for animals.

Types of Vegans
Dietary Vegan: This is the group which only follows Vegan Diet, not the Vegan lifestyle. This mean, they can wear products made from animal skin or use products tested on animals.
Lacto Vegan: This is the group which does not consume animal products, eggs. But they consume dairy products.
Ovo Vegan: This group does not consume animal products, dairy products. However they consume eggs.
Lacto-Ovo-Vegan: This group does not consume animal products, but they consume eggs and dairy products.
There are many more variants in Veganism. This choice can be due to moral reasons, dietary choice or simply personal preference. Individuals from different strata of the society are either already Vegans or turning to Veganism. If you are a non-vegetarian or even a vegetarian and considering going Vegan, do your homework on the diet, lifestyle and then choose what you want.
